Frequently Asked Questions

Curious about how we craft packaging that’s genuinely kinder to the planet?

Here we answer the questions we hear most often.

Biodegradable Organic Containers (BOC) are made from agricultural by-products through a proprietary, low-impact technological process that requires no water consumption and no chemical additives. Fully natural and rapidly biodegradable, BOC decompose harmlessly in natural environments within 3-4 weeks, significantly reducing waste and environmental footprint. They can be disposed of alongside food waste – making them the ideal, proven solution for major festivals, outdoor events and large-scale caterers who already rely on them to deliver genuine sustainability without compromise.

Versatile and practical, BOC serve as both sustainable food packaging and disposable tableware, offering an authentic eco-friendly choice for consumers, cafés, restaurants and food suppliers alike. By choosing BOC, businesses not only meet rising regulatory expectations and consumer demand for real circularity – they actively contribute to a cleaner planet while maintaining uncompromising quality and convenience.

Product Information

BOC tableware is crafted from a thoughtful blend of cereal bran, flakes and native starches drawn from wheat, rye, buckwheat, barley, oats, spelt, maize, rice and linseed. This carefully selected, plant-derived composition produces strong, single-use plates, bowls and dishes that are wholly biodegradable and conceived with true environmental care.

Country of Origin

Poland, European Union

All BOC products are proudly made in the pristine Podlasie region of north-eastern Poland — one of Europe’s last truly unspoilt landscapes, far from heavy industry, dense urbanisation or intensive chemical agriculture. Renowned for its exceptionally clean air, ancient forests, clear rivers and low pollution levels, Podlasie provides an ideal setting for genuinely sustainable production. Approximately 95 % of our raw materials are sourced directly from this region, ensuring traceability, minimal transport emissions and the highest possible environmental integrity from field to finished product.

Intended Use

Our ediplate® and edicup® products have been thoughtfully engineered for brief contact with a broad selection of processed foods, including those served hot. For best results, we recommend limiting use to approximately 60 minutes. They perform particularly effectively with liquids possessing a dynamic viscosity exceeding 1.731 mPa·s — encompassing most soups, sauces and yoghurts — thereby minimising absorption while preserving structural integrity. The BRANBOXTM range is additionally suitable for the packaging and refrigerated storage of selected fresh produce, such as vegetables and fruit, for periods of 7–14 days under appropriate conditions.

All BOC products may be used with complete confidence in conventional ovens and microwaves, delivering genuine versatility whilst upholding the highest standards of quality and safety. Should you require any further guidance on usage recommendations or performance characteristics, we should be delighted to assist.

Storage and Transportation

To maintain their quality and integrity, store these items in clean, dry, well-ventilated premises, protected from moisture, direct sunlight, and adverse weather conditions. Take care to avoid any exposure to wetting or dampness. With proper handling, the products will arrive and remain in excellent condition, ready for use.

Shelf Life

Under the recommended storage conditions, these items enjoy a shelf life of 24–36 months.

Packaging

Individual items are presented with care in biodegradable heat-shrink film. These are then placed into sturdy, recycled cardboard boxes, each bearing precise labelling for full traceability and compliance. For distribution, the boxes are securely palletised on standard EUR/EPAL pallets, with quantities, dimensions, and total weight tailored to specification. Should you require further details on pallet configurations, we should be pleased to provide them. For larger orders, we are happy to accommodate additional customer-specific labelling or carton marking as requested.

We hold all relevant certifications for food contact safety and compostability – covering our standard range product line.

Our products are manufactured exclusively from natural, renewable raw materials—principally wheat bran and other plant-based biomass—through a gentle, chemical-free process that requires no water at any stage. They fully comply with EU requirements for materials intended to come into contact with food (Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and related standards). This means our products are safe for direct contact with both hot and cold foods, with no transfer of harmful substances.

BOC products are rapidly biodegradable and compostable in both industrial and home composting conditions. They meet the key European standards, including EN 13432 (Packaging – Requirements for packaging recoverable through composting and biodegradation) – the most widely recognised EU standard for industrial compostability 90% biodegradation within 6 months, no toxic residues, no negative impact on compost quality.

In real-world conditions, BOC products break down naturally in approximately 21-30 days, as confirmed by independent testing and years of successful use at major European festivals and outdoor events. They contain no plastics, chemical coatings or synthetic additives, ensuring zero microplastic residue or toxic remnants.

We adhere to a quality and food safety management system based on ISO 22000, which enables us to uphold the highest standards of food safety. Furthermore, our production facility is subject to ongoing external audits and supervision to ensure full compliance at all times.
